Eagle County Commons

Project Overview

The Eagle County Commons project, located in Edwards, began mobilization in early September 2024, with a groundbreaking celebration on October 1, 2024. The project is expected to follow an 18-month construction timeline and is anticipated to be completed by early 2026. One of the key features of the project is the inclusion of new housing units, detailed below.

The centerpiece of the project will be a two-story government services building with a basement, encompassing a total area of 28,000 square feet. This facility will serve as a hub for several Eagle County departments, including Elections, Clerk & Recorder, Motor Vehicle, Human Services, Public Health, and a satellite location for the Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the building will feature a 749-square-foot meeting room, providing a versatile space for community and county use.

Sustainability and Future-Proofing

The project emphasizes sustainability and future readiness. It will include 10 EV charging stations, with infrastructure in place to make an additional 35 parking spaces EV-capable. This forward-thinking approach ensures the facility is prepared to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles.

New Housing Component

A key component of the project is the development of 20 new housing units, designed to address the community's growing need for additional residential options. Housing Eagle County is thrilled to see this vital initiative come to fruition. While the final name for the housing segment of the project is still under consideration, it will include 20 rental units specifically designated for Eagle County Government employees.

The housing breakdown includes:

  • 16 one-bedroom units (468 sq. ft.) with storage/crawlspace, renting for $1,950 per month.

  • 4 two-bedroom units (1,024 sq. ft.) with garages, renting for $2,300 per month.

Rental rates are set at 80% of the Area Median Income and include utilities such as electricity, water, sewer, and trash services. Tenants will be responsible for internet, cable, and phone services.

Each unit will be equipped with washers and dryers, offering added convenience for residents. This housing program is an integral part of a broader workforce housing initiative, offering Eagle County Government employees affordable housing options conveniently located near their workplace.

Separate Project Coming Soon: CMC Building 3

In addition to the current housing initiative at the Eagle County Commons, another exciting project is on the horizon! Colorado Mountain College Building 3, located just next door, is scheduled for completion in late 2026 and will add 30 new rental units to the community.

These projects highlight the ongoing commitment to expanding affordable housing options and supporting the local workforce. Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses!
