Reuniting Families: The Power of Rental Funds
In Eagle County, the concept of a “dream home” has evolved dramatically, extending far beyond the physical structure or features of a house, duplex, townhome, condo, or apartment. It now symbolizes a much more humble yet special place where individuals and families have the opportunity to create lifelong memories and foster a real sense of belonging. Landing a home in one of our highly desirable rural resort communities is an unbelievably significant accomplishment, truly a dream, yet, for many, this basic need remains elusive. That’s why Housing Eagle County is dedicated to bridging the gap, offering personalized mentorship and innovative housing solutions specifically designed to assist hard-working local homebuyers, renters, and homeowners.
A Look into the Struggle
Meet Alison (name changed for privacy), a dedicated mother of two who endured years of housing insecurity, a struggle that deeply affected her family. "We've been without a home for about two years, and my daughter had to stay most of the time with her dad. I miss having her with me so much," Alison shared, a painful reality faced by too many in our community, highlighting the urgent need for accessible and stable housing solutions that can help build, strengthen, reunite, and heal families
A New Beginning
But then, hope emerged from the shadows. Through the Rental Funds program, Alison didn't just find any rental, she discovered her "dream home." It was an apartment spacious enough for both of her children and the perfect place to gather and create lasting memories. "Now, with this place, my daughter gets to have her own room, and we can finally be all together again. It's been so hard without her. I am taking her today to see the new place. She is going to be so excited!" Alison shared, her voice bursting with joy.
In Alison’s case, Rental Funds provided financial support by covering her first and last month’s rent, typically a substantial one-time payment at lease signing. This arrangement allowed Alison to use her hard-earned savings solely for the security deposit. To put things in perspective, it’s not uncommon for renters in Eagle County to have to come up with $8,000-$10,000 before even moving into a rental. That's a significant amount of money for a well-established couple with two full-time, year-round jobs, let alone a newcomer with a seasonal job or, in Alison's case, a single mom working multiple jobs and supporting two young kids.
Alison’s journey wasn’t easy. She faced major financial and personal challenges in an unbelievably competitive housing market, testing her persistence at every turn. "I could write a book about all that we have been going through," she noted. However, this time, the unexpected kindness of her future landlord and the swift response from Housing Eagle County transformed her dream into reality. Within just a week, what had seemed like an endless struggle culminated in an amazing family reunion! "Thank you again for making the process so easy!"
Gratitude and Transformation

You are really making a big difference in my life. Thank you for helping me get my family back together," she shared.
