Lease to Locals
Lease to Locals is an innovative housing program designed to create new rental opportunities for the local workforce in Eagle County. This program provides property owners with one-time cash incentives to convert their vacant or short-term rental properties into rentals available for seasonal leases of five months or longer, or for long-term leases of 12 months or more. To ensure rental rates remain affordable, the program awards a two-payment stipend, which varies based on the lease duration and the number of bedrooms in the property. Stipends for seasonal leases range from $2,000 to $8,000, while long-term leases offer incentives between $4,000 to $16,000.
To qualify for the program, properties must be located in Eagle County and should not have been leased on a long-term basis in the past year. Additionally, these properties must pass an inspection and comply with a rental price limit, which must not surpass 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Eagle County. Property owners must rent to an Eligible Household as defined in the Eagle County Affordable Housing Guidelines: Administrative Procedures.
